Customer Profile
In 1972, Sur La Table started as one store in Seattle, Washington selling quality cookware,
bakeware, small electrics, bar and glassware, cutlery, and food items. Today,
45 years later, it has grown to 121 stores around the United States with no sign of stopping.
The Challenge
The West Coast-based retailer was using old Motorola mobile computers for
inventory and warehousing and was looking for an update. They specifically
wanted to work with a new manufacturer with quick turnaround service and
person-to-person customer service.
The Solution
Sur La Table searched for an enterprise device online and found that Unitech stood out among other brands.
They reached out to us directly and tested a few of our units. They liked the lightweight
form factor of the HT682 mobile computer and thought it was ideal for their needs.
Running on the Windows CE 6.0 Pro platform and boasting a 22-key keypad,
the ruggedly built HT682 is 6-foot drop rated and IP65 sealed to protect
against dirt, dust, and water. The HT682 fit the bill perfectly as a tough
scanner that was bound to encounter tumbles in their warehouses.
They bundled the devices with MoboLink, Unitech’s proprietary mobile device
management software, on the IoT platform. Designed to work in harmony with
Unitech devices, MoboLink optimizes data collection and app running. With Mobolink, Internet
connected units can be remotely controlled and have the ability to shut down if lost or stolen.
